Pineapple Smoothie Recipe

This is not a recipe for your usual pineapple smoothie!

If you've never tasted a green smoothie, you are in for a surprise. Green smoothies are surprisingly tasty, and you almost cannot detect any "green" taste at all, unless you are super sensitive. But I suggest, that if you are "allergic" to greens, you should just get over it. Green smoothies make great nutrition super-easy and delicious. Even your picky-eaters will love them...eventually ;-). (Check out my hub Smoothie Recipes for Kids for some ideas how to make your kids love green smoothies).

Pineapples are some of the most popular tropical fruits in the world - and for a good reason. They are sweet, juicy, and delicious.

But wait, there is more! They are also good for you - how great is that?! Pineapples are loaded with vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. They can help it can fight off viruses that cause cough and colds. Even when you are already infected with such ailment, pineapples can help you. Manganese, also present in pineapple, is a trace mineral that your body needs to build bones and connective tissues. And I'm not even going to talk about their anti-inflammatory and digestive properties...

It is no wonder many people who want to have a healthy lifestyle include these fruits in their diets.

Unfortunately, many pineapple smoothie recipes available online and in recipe books call for some form of dairy, such as milk, yogurt, buttermilk or kefir.

This smoothie, however, is an entirely different recipe. You can have it as your breakfast smoothie, or as a healthy snack.

It's a recipe for a green smoothie with pineapple!

Get your blender ready, and let's get started...

Pineapple-Strawberry-Kale Smoothie Recipe

Pineapple Smoothie Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly cut pineapple
  • 1 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 ripe banana (optional)
  • 2 leaves of kale (any kind of kale or other leafy greens will work)
  • 1 English cucumber, peeled and/or 2 stalks of celery
  • a piece of fresh ginger (optional, it gives the smoothie nice "zing", in my opinion)
  • 1 cup water (more or less, to desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Combine everything into your blender with 3-4 ice cubes and a touch of water. A high power blender is best to blend tough greens, such as kale (I use Vitamix).
  2. Blend.
  3. Add more water if needed to get things moving around in the blender.
  4. Pour into a tall glass, drink, and smile!

Green Smoothies Make Better Nutrition Easy

Green smoothies are terrific to give your body a boost of healthy nutrients. Unlike juices, they are full of fiber, too, so they are much more filling, leaving you feeling satisfied longer.

They also slow down the absorption of fruit sugars into the body, so even people with diabetes and blood sugar problems can have them - provided they add lots of greens, and no fats or animal products. If you have issues with blood sugars, use lots of greens, and low glycemic foods in your smoothies, such as cucumbers and celery tops.

Really, a high power blender, can be your best friend in regaining your health, maintaining ideal weight, and feeling more energized. It's a great long-term investment in your health.

Drink a tall glass every day or more, and enjoy more energy, clearer skin and improved health.
