Pineapple-Strawberry-Kale Smoothie Recipe
Pineapple Smoothie Ingredients
- 1 cup freshly cut pineapple
- 1 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
- 1 ripe banana (optional)
- 2 leaves of kale (any kind of kale or other leafy greens will work)
- 1 English cucumber, peeled and/or 2 stalks of celery
- a piece of fresh ginger (optional, it gives the smoothie nice "zing", in my opinion)
- 1 cup water (more or less, to desired consistency)
Instructions
- Combine everything into your blender with 3-4 ice cubes and a touch of water. A high power blender is best to blend tough greens, such as kale (I use Vitamix).
- Blend.
- Add more water if needed to get things moving around in the blender.
- Pour into a tall glass, drink, and smile!
Green Smoothies Make Better Nutrition Easy
Green smoothies are terrific to give your body a boost of healthy nutrients. Unlike juices, they are full of fiber, too, so they are much more filling, leaving you feeling satisfied longer.
They also slow down the absorption of fruit sugars into the body, so even people with diabetes and blood sugar problems can have them - provided they add lots of greens, and no fats or animal products. If you have issues with blood sugars, use lots of greens, and low glycemic foods in your smoothies, such as cucumbers and celery tops.
Really, a high power blender, can be your best friend in regaining your health, maintaining ideal weight, and feeling more energized. It's a great long-term investment in your health.
Drink a tall glass every day or more, and enjoy more energy, clearer skin and improved health.
